From next season onwards there will be a new rule about shirts. Instead of having a different number shirt every match, each player will have his own shirt. That person will be the only person responsible for it . There will be an auction for shirt numbers, so if you desperately want a certain shirt number(Tim) get down there quickly at the start of the season and start the bidding.
Halifax Hockey Club is the oldest Hockey Club in Yorkshire Est. 1891.
Apart from its first season Halifax Hockey Club played at Thrum Hall from its formation until 1922 when it moved to Elland. In 1927 it began playing 'Flick' Hockey which we now know today as Indoor Hockey. The club temporarily changed its name to Elland Hockey Club in the late 1970's. A ladies section was formed in 1979 and colts training began in the early 1980's. In 1987 Halifax Hockey Club moved back to Thrum Hall, Halifax but as there was already a Halifax Ladies Hockey Club in the town, the club became Halifax (Men's) & Calder (Ladies) Hockey Club. In 1995 Halifax Ladies amalgamated with the club and at the end of the following season the club dropped the Calder name to regain its Proud name of Halifax Hockey Club.
During the 1990's Halifax Hockey Club took the progressive decision to try and get all teams onto Astroturf. This meant that the Men played in Keighley and the Ladies in Bradford. With the construction of 2 pitches in the borough at the end of the 90's the teams have now returned to the Town.
Thrum Hall was sold at the end of 2001 for redevelopment and the club is looking to build a new Cricket Pitch, Astroturf and clubhouse in conjunction with a school in the area.
